Baseball has been hand-signed and inscribed by Roberto Clemente Jr. (The son of Pirates Superstar Roberto Clemente Sr.).Roberto Jr. added 9/30/72 inscription which was the date of his father's 3000th hit and ironically the last hit of his life and career due to his tragic death only 3 short months later.On New Years Eve December 31st 1972 Roberto Clemente chartered a plane for a humanitarian mission to earthquake-stricken Nicaragua. Even though Clemente had some concerns about the planes safety he flew. Clemente's flight crashed into the Atlantic Ocean shortly after takeoff killing him and all four crew members.
