As outstanding as he was offensively, Anthony Davis made even more of an impact on the defensive end in his lone season at the University of Kentucky. He blocked six shots in the 2012 National Championship game against Kansas, which gave him 186 for the season. It broke the record for freshmen previously held by Hassan Whiteside. He won practically every national award that year, including the John R. Wooden Award and the Naismith College Player of the Year honor. He was simply dominant in the Final Four. He had 18 points with 14 rebounds and five blocked shots in the semifinal against Louisville and followed that up with 16 rebounds and six blocks in the National Championship victory. He only spent one season at Kentucky before declaring for the NBA Draft, but he made an impression that will forever be honored in Lexington. Davis has autographed and inscribed “2012 Champs” on this limited edition (50) Baden University of Kentucky basketball in black paint pen. His signature and inscription are deemed authentic by virtue of Upper Deck Authenticated’s Five-Step Process.
